Zaskar Myatt - Passion for the sport and community spirit!

Meet Zaskar Myatt who has a huge passion for racing and trails…….

At just 10 years old, Zaskar Myatt is making the most out of life, and in the mountain biking community, with a packed schedule of races and a love for the sport that goes beyond the trails.

It’s very much a family affair and this family loves to promote the sport and also helps facilitate the mountain bike club at Zaskar’s school. They only have 400 students and have a group of over 30 turning up to ride on Tuesday afternoons! So amazing for them to see so many kids having a good time on bikes.

Zaskar’s 2024 racing season has been nothing short of impressive. Here’s a glimpse at the events he’s tackled:

This Year’s Racing Highlights

  • Crankworx Hucks and Hooves: Showcasing his skills on the pump track and dual slalom.

  • Waikato/BOP XC Champs: A stellar performance earning him 3rd place.

  • Highlander MTB Challenge: A gritty challenge that Zaskar conquered.

  • Rip, Grip & Whip: Finishing strong with 2nd place.

  • Whaka 25: Adding this epic endurance ride to his list of achievements.

What’s Next?

Zaskar is gearing up for the Spring Series, which includes races in Te Miro, Taupō, Pirongia, and Hamilton. Many of these trails are new to him, and he’s excited for the adventure that lies ahead.

Beyond Racing: A passion for the Trails

When Zaskar isn’t racing, he’s giving back to the mountain biking community. He’s part of the No Brains Rebuild crew, helping with trail maintenance on Old Chevy. His dedication to the trails shows a deep commitment to the sport and its future.

Zaskar’s MTB Favorites

  • Trail: Gunna Gotta in the Whakarewarewa Forest is at the top of his list for its flowy fun.

  • Thing About Mountain Biking: Meeting cool riders and sharing the stoke.

  • Favorite Riders: XC legend Nino Schurter and downhill star Sam “Blenki” Blenkinsop—choosing just one would’ve been impossible.

With his talent, determination, and love for the MTB community, Zaskar Myatt is definitely a rider to watch. Good luck with the Spring Series, Zaskar—we’ll be cheering you on and we look forward to seeing you at Craters Classic 2025!
